Mario
Vargas Llosa
Writter
Behold the wax figure of Mario Vargas Llosa, one of the great contemporary novelists, standard-bearer of Latin American literature, and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Born in Arequipa (Peru) in 1936, he achieved international fame with “The City and the Dogs” (1963), a novel that broke the mold in Latin American narrative. This was followed by works such as “Conversation in the Cathedral”, “The Feast of the Goat”, and “The Discreet Hero”. His literary style combines realism, experimentation, and political analysis. In addition to being a writer, he has been a journalist, essayist, and politician (even running for president of Peru in 1990). Interesting fact: he is a Peruvian and Spanish dual national who has lived in Spain, France, and the United Kingdom. If you likeMario Vargas Llosa, you might also be interested in seeing
